End-of-Summer Home Maintenance Tips

Keep Your Home Healthy
As the summer comes to an end, it is important to make sure your home is in tip-top shape for the next season. By conducting different home maintenance projects seasonally, you can preserve the integrity of your home for years to come.
Clean or Replace Your Air Filters
The humidity during the summer can cause a buildup of mold and mildew in your air filter. If you have a disposable filter, then throw it away and replace it with a fresh one, preferably one that is hypoallergenic. If you can clean it, then wash it thoroughly and let it dry completely before putting it back. This will keep your air cleaner, and everyone in the house healthier.
Vacuum Upholstery and Curtains
Don’t let dirt and dust linger on your upholstery. The end of the summer season is the perfect time to do a deep cleaning of couches, chairs, and curtains. For upholstery, use a handheld vacuum to remove all dirt and dust. Use upholstery cleaner to remove any stains and freshen up the fabric. Remove all curtains in your home and run them through the washing machine. Dust all windowsills and blinds.
Before the fall and winter weather approach, make sure you do a backyard cleanup. Remove all branches and debris from your yard, and make sure nothing is stuck in the gutters. You may also want to protect your deck/patio while the weather is still nice.
