Chief Legal Officer (CLO)
Sheryl Johnson has more than 27 years of legal, risk, compliance and regulatory experience in the financial services industry. She has a strong background in creating strong oversight programs, cultures of compliance and solving problems in an ever changing regulatory environment. At Home Point, Sheryl is the Chief Legal Officer, responsible for legal and regulatory oversight, compliance and licensing.
Sheryl began her career as a practicing attorney in New York City in 1990. In 1998 Sheryl went in-house at a small private company in Minnesota, eventually going in-house at Fidelity National Financial in 2004, concentrating on providing legal and compliance support to key service and technology providers to the mortgage industry. Sheryl became Deputy General Counsel at Lender Processing Services, Inc. in 2010, helping to lead that company through the mortgage crisis and eventually becoming Chief Risk and Compliance Officer. Most recently, Sheryl served as the Chief Risk and Compliance Officer at Walter Investment Management Corporation where she had oversight of risk, compliance, vendor management, information security and regulatory exams and audits.
Sheryl holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Finance from McGill University and a Juris Doctor from Rutgers University. She is admitted to practice law in New York and New Jersey.
